The theme for this 'If You Only Have One Book' Book Club is Craft & we're thrilled to be joined by guest host Craftsperson & Seamstress, Rachel Johnson.
How it works
The guest host & you bring the book you would recommend on Craft if only able to read just one. No need to prepare, just bring along the book to show others & let the group why you're passionate about this book & why it's one for you!
The session will take place on Zoom & places are limited so please sign up early. If you miss out on a space, don't worry the book club will be live streamed on Grow's Facebook so you will be able to watch & still get the recommendations.
About Rachel Johnson
Rachel is Chief Seamstress at Hackney Wick Sewing - Making, Mending & Alterations to suit YOU! Rachel loves the old adage ‘Mend & Make Do to Save Buying New’ so they do everything we can to repair, reuse & upcycle beloved items. She'd love to teach everyone to sew - it’s a human right - there is so much satisfaction in being able to sew on a button or fix a rip. Her Mum taught her to sew when she was little & she made a bag out of a pair of old jeans with a crocheted handle. This started her love affair with crafting & her passion for denim is still strong. She's made bags, curtains, cushions, socks & even a poncho out of denim... she says there can never be enough denim!
She runs successful sewing workshops all over London (now online).
These events are part of a cultural programme of events celebrating the creativity and diversity of Grow’s events programme and is supported by the Governments Cultural Recovery Fund, administered by Arts Council England.
