GROW is an independent and grassroots cultural space with international impact, based in Hackney Wick. The venue includes busy bars, kitchen and indoor and outdoor areas from which people enjoy good food, drinks and cultural and community events throughout the day into the night.  Since opening in 2014, our aim is to extend opportunities for people to enjoy a creative and nurturing environment whilst exploring ecological and social sustainability. We are an accredited Hackney Nights Venue and part of an ecosystem of artist and maker spaces and a working yard called Grow Studios.

GROW MANAGER

Location: Grow, Hackney Wick
Reports to: Venue & Experience Manager
Responsible for: Duty Shift Managers and Venue Team (on shift)
Contract: 8-12 months, fixed term (with possibility of extension)
Salary: £34–36k per annum, depending on experience
Hours: 28–42 hours per week, worked on a rota basis (including evenings and weekends). Open to both full-time and part-time candidates.
Start: April 2026

Grow is looking for an experienced Grow Manager to help lead the day-to-day running of our canalside venue.

Grow is a fast-paced independent venue where café culture, global music programming and community events meet, and we’re looking for someone who thrives in busy cultural spaces and enjoys helping a venue come alive from daytime service through to late-night music.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone confident running busy shifts, supporting teams and keeping the venue flowing across both daytime café service and evening events.

You’ll be the senior manager on shift, coordinating Duty Managers and front-of-house teams while ensuring a safe, welcoming and well-run environment.

What you’ll be doing
• Running daytime café and evening event shifts
• Leading Duty Managers and FOH teams
• Overseeing cellar and bar operations
• Managing guest experience and floor flow
• Maintaining licensing and safety standards
• Supporting team training and onboarding

We’re looking for someone who
• Has experience managing busy hospitality or nightlife venues
• Is confident running high-volume shifts and live events
• Understands venue operations and licensing
• Is calm under pressure and confident leading teams
• Has a strong interest in music, culture and community programming

CHEFS

Location: Hackney Wick (E9)
Hours: Full time and Part Time Roles Available
Pay: Competitive, dependent on experience

The role

You’ll be working closely with the Head Chef and kitchen team and central to the day-to-day running and development of the kitchen. You’ll lead by example on the pass, support the head chef in driving standards, and help develop a menu that reflects Grow’s values.

About you

You’ll be an experienced, calm, and organised chef who enjoys working as part of a team. We’re looking for someone who has:

  • Strong communication, who is team focused 

  • A genuine interest in sustainability and plant-based food

  • Experience with kitchen admin, understanding of HACCP and kitchen due diligence

  • Confidence running a service and supporting a team under pressure

  • Level 2 food hygiene certification (minimum)
