Dissolving the lines between jazz, rock and electronic music, St. Barbe create a rich and expansive sound world fuelled by high-octane improvisation, ethereal textures and complex beats.
St. Barbe made their debut in 2021 with Shapeless, a self-produced and independently-released three track E.P which garnered support from Spotify’s editorial jazz playlists and received a feature in Guitar Magazine. In July 2022 they supported world-renowned guitarist Mike Stern at London's Jazz Cafe, following a U.K tour with dates in Manchester, Nottingham, Bristol and a featured performance at Cheltenham Jazz Festival. The trio saw further success that year with the release of singles Tellicherry and Noumena, accumulating over half a million streams and solidifying their growing reputation as a band whose impossible-to-pin-down sound is on a trajectory all of its own.
"Injecting their brand of jazz with a healthy shot of alternative rock, St. Barbe deliver a slick, fresh take on the genre that brings it straight into the twenty-first century”- Guitar.com
"This band opened for us last night in London and they were unbelievable" - Dennis Chambers (Mike Stern Band, Santana, Steely Dan)
Sweet Billy Pilgrim (Support Act)
Immerse yourself in the avant-pop brilliance of Sweet Billy Pilgrim, the acclaimed duo of Tim Elsenburg and Jana Carpenter. With a Mercury Music Prize nomination under their belt, this innovative band has consistently pushed musical boundaries, blending influences from Steely Dan and Prince to the soulful electronica of Jon Hopkins.
Their latest album, Somapolis (2022), is a conceptual journey through an imaginary city, crafted with a select group of collaborators. The result is a sound that’s both cerebral and physical—inviting you to move, even if not quite dance, to its intricate rhythms.
Sweet Billy Pilgrim's impressive live history includes sharing stages with a diverse range of artists such as Portico Quartet, Get Cape Wear Cape Fly, You Tell Me (featuring Peter Brewis of Field Music), Rokia Traoré, Bruce Soord (of Pineapple Thief), and Big Big Train. They’ve also performed at iconic venues and festivals, from Billy Bragg’s Leftfield tent at Glastonbury and the main stage at Latitude, to the Royal Albert Hall where they supported The Who.
