We welcome Teshay Makeda - The Empress of Roots Soul back to Grow as part of a night presented by long standing London promotion & soundsystem, Jah Revelation Muzik.

Teshay’s hypnotic fusion of Reggae, Soul and RnB, dubbed ’Roots Soul', is a groundbreaking new genre that is kicking up a storm on the music scene.

After the release of her first acclaimed EP 'Teshay Makeda' in 2017, Makeda has performed on major stages in the UK and internationally including the 2018 Rototom Sunsplash Festival in Spain, Cross the Tracks 2019, Mekudeshet Festival Jerusalem 2019 and Villa Verde Ethiopia 2020.

You may know Jah Revelation music as Roots and Cultures specialist, but don’t let that fool you as the Soundsystem are able to play anything from Hip-Hop, Soul to any other genre you can think of. Formed out of the fusion of King Rastfari, Fugitive and Revelation in 1980. Jah Revelation Music has toured with MCs such as Culture, Ambassador, MC Troopa, Preacher Levi as well as DJ/MC Cecil Reuben The Selecta.

12 years ago the band secured a residency spot at Hootananny, where they play every Thursday.

Our Spice Trail Menu is predominantly plant based, with some ethically sourced meat options, as part of our conscious drive towards sustainability. Our passion is for the cooking of the Middle East and southern Mediterranean so expect punchy flavours, warm spices and as always the best ingredients we can find to comfort and nourish the soul.  

With our drinks, we partner with breweries St Austell and Signature Brew for our lagers and IPAs and serve organic wine and prosecco which help international wildlife charity, Born Free. We design our spin on such drinks as Rum Punch, homemade Hackney Spiced Rum, Vegan White Russian and Espresso Martini.
