British sitarist and composer, Tommy Khosla and Jawari return to their London home Grow Hackney for a fundraiser for their upcoming debut album. Joined by guest artists Ume and Lagnajita Mukhopadhyay who will also be featuring on the album, this will be an exclusive insight into their upcoming project. Jawari members performing will be Gregorio Merchán on percussion, Taylor Frost on guitar, Billie Sophoclides on saxophone and Ella Sophoclides on vocals.

Expect an evening of sitar, jazz, poetry and vinyl!

Contemporary sitarist Tommy Khosla and their band Jawari (supported by Help Musicians), will be presenting their first set of the year with the full collective. This four piece band features Tommy Khosla on sitar and synth, Gregorio Merchán on percussion and Taylor Frost on bass, cello and electric guitar. Inspired by both Neo and Indo-Jazz, the band is venturing into new expressions of the sitar - informed by jazz, bossa nova, psychedelic sounds and electronics. 

Ume

Born and raised in Kyoto, Japan, to a Chinese mother and Moroccan/Israeli father, singer songwriter Ume draws inspiration from her experience as a global citizen. Her sound is based around Neo Soul, R&B and Jazz, with influences from world music inspired by her roots. She previously released on Japanese label Jazzy Sport and EPISTROPH.

Ume will be joined by Jawari members Gregorio Merchán on percussion and Taylor Frost on guitar.

Entry £6 per person to book a premium table and £5 for advance tickets.

Our passion is for the cooking of the Middle East and southern Mediterranean so expect punchy flavours, warm spices and as always the best ingredients we can find to comfort and nourish the soul.

With our drinks, we partner with breweries St Austell and Signature Brew for our lagers and IPAs and serve organic wine and prosecco which help international wildlife charity, Born Free. We design our own drinks such as homemade Hackney Spiced Rum.
