TOMMY KHOSLA PRESENTS: UME & MAHALIAH EDWARDS // CONTEMPORARY WORLD MUSIC

British sitarist and composer, Tommy Khosla returns to host and curate another evening of modern world music with artists from his creative community, featuring his Neo Indo Jazz band Jawari and special guests, Ume and violinist Mahaliah Edwards!

Tommy’s recent debut album, Vignettes, was featured in Songlines Magazine. The producer and sitarist fuses Indian Classical Music and ethereal contemporary sounds.

Ume

Born and raised in Kyoto, Japan, to a Chinese mother and Moroccan/Israeli father, singer songwriter Ume draws inspiration from her experience as a global citizen. Her sound is based around Neo soul, R&B and Jazz, with influences from world music inspired by her roots. She previously released on Japanese label Jazzy Sport and EPISTROPH.

Ume will be joined by Jawari members Gregorio Merchán on percussion and Taylor Frost on guitar.

Mahaliah Edwards

Mahaliah is a violinist, educator and advocate for music and social justice. A versatile musician, she has played in a range of venues from the major concert venues and has recently performed with artists such as Ed Sheeran, Michael Bublé and Heather Small.

Mahaliah and Tommy will perform an improvised indo-jazz set.

Entry £6 per person to book a premium table and £5 for advance tickets.

Our Spice Trail Menu is predominantly plant based, with some ethically sourced meat options, as part of our conscious drive towards sustainability. Our passion is for the cooking of the Middle East and southern Mediterranean so expect punchy flavours, warm spices and as always the best ingredients we can find to comfort and nourish the soul.

With our drinks, we partner with breweries St Austell and Signature Brew for our lagers and IPAs and serve organic wine and prosecco which help international wildlife charity, Born Free. We design our own drinks such as Vegan Hemp White Russian and homemade Hackney Spiced Rum.
