Grow Change 2020 - 'Everyday Self-Care, Care For Each Other And The Environment'

Grow Change 2020

In January 2019, over 300 people came to a week-long series of events at Grow to discuss and share stories and ideas on the theme of self-organising.  Topics ranged from ethical economics; community resilience and gentrification; education out of the institution; climate action to skill sharing. This continued to be the theme for the rest of the year for Grow and continues to be inherent in the way we operate as a business and in our events programme.  You can read more Grow Change 2019 on this blog.

In January 2020, the themes of Grow Change will be ‘Everyday Self-Care, Care for Each Other and the Environment’.   Join the Grow Change Facebook Event.

We have chosen this theme as we believe whatever the dominant political and economic system we operate in,  as individuals and as a collective we can find ways to make changes to empower and care for ourselves and others everyday.   In turn, we can support each other as we try and change the narrative during these turbulent times of a climate emergency and global social injustice.

One of the main findings of Grow Change 2019 was many of those who reject the neoliberal model of profit at any cost were seeking emotional support, as well as financial, for themselves and their projects.  The themes will underpin the programming of events in 2020.

Friday 17th January 5-8pm
Ethical Economics Meetup & Social - FREE (with DJs from 8pm onwards)
Since we started as an experiment in ethical and sustainable business 5 years ago, we’ve been committed to exploring the question - is it possible to be a financially sustainable enterprise in London whilst:

  • Paying London Living Wage

  • Using eco-electricty; eco cleaning and recycled products

  • Sourcing locally and sustainably wherever possible

  • Working in partnership with independent and ethical enterprises wherever possible

  • Using organic and fairtrade wherever possible

  • Offering free entry events wherever possible to share music, art and community workshops

This meet up focuses on ethical products and how and where you spend your money can be an everyday political act to help care for others and the environment by taking away from the multi-nationals, tax avoiding corporations and support your community. Join the Facebook Event

We’re also launching our new sustainable supper club on Tuesday 14th January 7-11pm where new chef Lola Demille takes on you on a culinary journey of locally sourced and sustainable dishes which are also good for your health with some surprises in between courses.
