2 August 2014

After what appeared an interminable lull, things are now happening fast at Grow.  We have a temporary license for the weekend of 1st, 2nd and 3rd August 2014 and we have assembled quite a line up!

We are pleased to announce that on Saturday 2nd August, the Heliocentrics land for an exclusive London date! Taking over a riverside warehouse in Hackney Wick (Grow!). Playing new & unreleased material from their forthcoming album….

Be prepared for a unique brand of astral funk, psychedelic instrumental hip-hop & ethereal intergalactic vocals taking you on an infinite mind trip! Support will come courtesy of DJ set from the world renowned record collector, producer & legendary drummer Mr Catto himself with visuals provided by Collective 98.

The Heliocentrics are a collective of musicians who are linked by a common aim to create their own musical identity, not following trends or genres but making the music they want to hear but cannot find.

Searching in a parallel reality where the orbits of funk, jazz, psychedelic, electronic, avant-garde and “ethnic” music all revolve around “The One.” Currently The Heliocentrics are back in the recording studio: new odyssey, new ride, and a new star in the helio-galaxy, Slovakian vocalist, Just B. WARNING: some songs may be performed in a language you may not understand!

The Heliocentrics have earned lifetime fans in the likes of questing spirits like Madlib, DJ Shadow, Quantic and Ethiopian jazz legend, Mulatu Astatke, with whom the Heliocentrics recorded and released Inspiration Information 3, the fourth classic Mulatu album – released nearly forty years after his other three.
