Open Studios, part of Open House Festival 2024

We were chuffed to open the studios and host a day of music at GROW for Open House Festival 2024. We do this festival each year to help celebrate London’s housing, architecture and neighbourhoods. We were particularly happy to share the inner workings of Grow to mark our 10 year anniversary. We join the festival each year to explore Grow’s history, heritage and contemporary context. Each year we update our timeline too!

Artists involved include Xenz, Rosemary Clunie, Teddy Baden, Gionatan Scali, Yasuko Arawara of Studio U and Sara Hoque.

We had hundreds of people through the door and received great feedback, such as:

“Amazing Space - atmospheric and connectivity - Local people together”

“Excellent - great to meet new artists and learn about such an amazing space”

We were incredible grateful to be joined by some Open House volunteers, who were so passionate and committed to showing people around and talking to the visitors about the space. About their experience, they said:

As an Open House Festival volunteer at Grow Studios, I had the privilege of getting a glimpse into where the artists work, learning more about their projects, and exchanging experiences with visitors. The warm welcome from everyone at Grow made me feel part of the team right away, and the enthusiasm for their work was contagious! A definite highlight was speaking with visitors on their way out and hearing about how much they'd enjoyed chatting with the artists, wandering around, and learning more about the history of the place. Grow is truly a place that is part of, and for, the local community. It's more important than ever that places like these continue to exist. Thank you, Grow, for having me!”

“Volunteering for the Open House at Grow was an incredible opportunity to immerse myself in the heart of the local art community and experience the unique vibe of the area. I had the chance to explore the art studios and the Grow Hackney space, while connecting with artists, volunteers, and visitors. It was a fantastic opportunity to broaden my horizons and deepen my appreciation for the creative scene.”

“It was such a joy to meet the artists in Grow Studios and see their work. Volunteering at the Open House Festival was an excellent experience where I explored new places in London and felt welcomed in the artistic and architectural community.”
