Looking forward to improving your model making techniques, while exploring alternative urban strategies for Hackney Wick in the heart of the creative community?
As part of LFA 2023, Atelier La Juntana and 4D Modelshop, with the support of the University of East London, Axalta Powder Coatings and Grow Hackney, are organizing a 1-day practical course designed for architects, model-makers, artists, designers, or anyone wishing to discover the world of creative making through silicone moulds and casting materials. The workshop will take place in the fantastic Grow Hackney venue at the heart of Hackney Wick.
Drawing from this year theme ‘In Common’, participants will be encouraged to explore collaborative making pedagogies, and to deploy alternative urban strategies for the area through model making and colour. Both beginners with little experience and those with professional ambitions are welcome to participate.
The course will be taught across a series of short exercises combining theory and practice, through which participants are challenged to solve a given brief by means of collaborative making. The exercises will be conducted through direct experimentation with the materials, and will include techniques such as carving, moulding, and casting.
Participants will be provided with a fantastic workshop package with all the necessary materials to conduct the workshop. The package will include exciting colours from our support partner Axalta Powder Coatings, including the selected colour of the year from Vibes magazine, which offers architects and designers an annual trend guide, exploring colour and texture in the built environment.
To close the session, we will be joined by representatives from the London Festival or Architecture, Axalta Powder Coatings and Grow Hackney to briefly present the workshop results through an interactive exhibition.
Tickets are £45
