TOMÁS GAETA & MONTAÑERA // A NIGHT OF SOUTH AMERICAN VOCALISTS

  • Grow 98c Wallis Road London, England, E9 5LN United Kingdom (map)

Come join us for a night with two great singer- songwriters from South America on the 7th of June at Grow, Hackney!

Montañera (Latin Indie Synth) from Colombia will be performing a very special show, presenting her full band set in as a previous show to the 2nd of July, where she will be the supporting act for Aterciopelados at Electric Brixton.

Tomás Gaeta will be showcasing a variety of Latin acoustic folk from his upcoming album, a bi-lingual amalgamation of his Latin-American roots and London’s dynamic music scene.

Montañera

'She has without a doubt one of the greatests voice that have emerged from Colombia in the past years' - Rolling Stone Magazine

María Mónica Gutiérrez known in her solo project as Montañera or Mountainess has established herself as one of the most intense and unique voices in Colombia. With the experience of 8 albums in tow, this London-based singer and songwriter has traveled a twelve-years trajectory with her bands Suricato (New Colombian Music) and Ságan (Cosmo-natural Pop) that has taken her to Europe, the United States and Latin America, invited to perform on stages as important as the Smithsonian Museum and Kennedy Center in Washington DC, a live act at KEXP in Seattle, SXSW in Austin, Lollapalooza and Festival Estéreo Picnic in Colombia, MaMA Festival in Paris among others. Her music has appeared in 3 Netflix series and has been the opening act for Kevin Johansen (at Jazz Cafe) and Silvana Estrada (at St. Pancras Old Church) in London, UK.

Tomás Gaeta

The magic of Uruguayan-born, London-based Tomás Gaeta’s songwriting lies in its subtlety. With jazzy chord sequences & lilting vocals warmer than an August balcony breeze, his alt-folk storytelling will spirit you to far-off oceans & bygone days, while still remaining rooted in the emotional soil of modern-day city life.

Following 2019’s well-received Luces album (with Tom, Chris & Tom), & his own Marcalibros EP in 2021, Tomás took a year out to study music & hone his sonic identity. He is currently working on a second set of solo songs to be recorded in Gröndahl - Fascination Street Recording studios (Sweden) with percussionist and drummer Gregorio Merchán, whose powerful arrangements & unusual marriage of English & Spanish lyrics display every ounce of his newfound confidence.
