Soul On The Canal Side celebrates their 20th Party Anniversary at Grow (with a partnership going way back to 2017) with their final session of the Summer 2024 season
To celebrate, the Mucho Soul crew has brought back their original September 2017 lineup of superb soulful selectors to take you on another twisting, turning adventure in sound! Expect an afternoon of Sunshine Jazz Vibes and Pure Soulful Goodness, with the Canalside session starting at 4 PM and the basement evening session from 10 PM.

Paul Carroll
Paul's DJ career took off in the late '80s when he moved from London to Sydney, teaming up with local legend Peter Glass. Together, they organized warehouse parties under the banner “Funk Inc.,” playing Soul, Disco, Jazz Dance, Funk, Latin, and Brazilian beats. These nights became hugely popular, attracting DJs like Norman Jay and artists such as Roy Ayers. Paul also promoted the Talkin’ Loud Australian launch party featuring Galliano live and co-organized the first “Vibes on a Summer’s Day” festival, a legendary day of sunshine and soul. Back in London in the '90s, he co-founded “Spiritual South” and hosted a Notting Hill Carnival sound system. Paul’s eclectic style mixes modern soul, jazz, funk, and global beats. Steve Harrington
Steve has been a fixture on the soul and soulful house scene for years, with a love of soul rooted in legends like Stevie Wonder and Marvin Gaye. He started DJing as a teen, and his career took off after the UK house explosion in the late '80s, leading to international bookings in Australia, Mexico, Belgium, and more. Notably, Steve has been a regular at the Groove Odyssey weekend in Ibiza and played at the Southport Weekender in 2015. He’s graced the decks at prestigious venues like Pacha, Ministry Of Sound, and clubs across the UK. His weekly radio show, The Soulganic Sunday Session on House FM, reflects his deep passion for soulful music.

Miss Soxee
Rosemary Mason, A.K.A. Miss Soxee, is the queen behind East London’s Open Decks Session. Her DJ sets explore Jazz, Funk, Soul, Disco, Broken Beat, and House. She started in 2008, spinning in bars around Kings Cross and Shoreditch, with a residency at The Cornershop. Miss Soxee has also played across the UK and internationally in Brussels, Croatia, Perpignan, and Ibiza, where she held a residency at La Escollera. A member of the Eves’ Drop Collective, she’s performed at Gilles Peterson’s We Out Here Festival for the past three years. Her monthly Open Decks event is an East London institution, encouraging music lovers to try their hand in a professional DJ environment.

Mucho Soul (DJ A.K.A & Ket Shah)
Mucho Soul, the brainchild of Alan Kenny Arscott (DJ A.K.A) and Ket Shah, has appeared at festivals like Inspiracion Festival in Tenerife and Sunsplash in Turkey. With over 40 years of experience and a weekly broadcast on Totally Wired Radio, they consistently deliver quality soulful music, taking you on a twisting-turning adventure in sound.

Late-Night Basement Finale:
Patrick Steele
A passionate music collector, Patrick has been a fixture on the London music scene since the late '80s. He was a member of the soul collective Confunktion and has worked with The Handson Family, Mucho Soul, Wah Wah 45s, and more. Patrick regularly DJs at Brixton Village Lates and the BBE Record Store, and presents two radio shows on Global Soul Radio and RealHouse Radio. He has played at festivals like Shapes Festival in Switzerland and Suncebeat in Lisbon. In 2018, Patrick won the Mixcloud listeners' choice award for the best Soul/Funk show. His sets cover a broad spectrum, rooted in soul but extending to modern electronic and house.

There are a limited amount of tables available to book of varying sizes and there are plenty of spaces available for walk-ups on any day. We accept bookings up till 3pm.

We design our spin on such drinks as Rum Punch, homemade Hackney Spiced Rum, Vegan White Russian and Espresso Martini.
