Detroit House classics meet Afro Latin grooves this Friday as JIKAMOS return to Grow!

Led by Williams Cumberbache, the band take us through their Latin recreations of Detroit House classics which they have performed at Jazz Cafe.

To book, click on the widget to the right and select the date of the event and pick your time. On event days we accept bookings between 6.45 & 7.45pm.

There will be a small amount of tables available to book and the rest of the places will be available for walk ups, it will be first come first served for walk ups.

Entry £6 per person to book a premium table and £5 for walk ups.

William Cumberbatch, Venezuelan of British descent based in UK since 1992 after representing Venezuela in the commemoration of their 500 year anniversary organised by the BBC with 2 bands representing Latin America; Los Muñequitos de Matanzas (Cuba) & Grupo Entreverao (Venezuela) where William was percussion leader. Since his arrival in the UK he has collaborated and been invited to play with top musicians and bands from all different branches of the music industry among them:

Recently recording with Grammy award winner member of Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers saxophonist Jean Toussaint last 2 albums and performed with Orphy Robinson’s AACM homage at the London Jazz festival 2015 featuring maestro Louis Moholo from South Africa on drums alone a “troupe of local UK jazz heroes.” The Guardian.

Previously worked with The Cure, Goldie, Cathy Dennis, Jam&Spoon, Roxy music, Bjork, Sheik Lhò- Youssou N'Dour, Juan De Marcos Gonzalez, Conjunto Sierra Maestra, Cubanismo, Eddie Palmiery, Gran Combo de Puerto Rico, Hany the voice of Cuba,

RIP Phil Asher & Restless Soul crew among many others top bands and musicians.

His band Tumbaito have been considered one the best Latin bands to come out of England in the 90’s. Millennium Arts council of England national touring award winner year 2000.

Food & Drink

Our Spice Trail Menu is predominantly plant based, with some ethically sourced meat options, as part of our conscious drive towards sustainability. Our passion is for the cooking of the Middle East and southern Mediterranean so expect punchy flavours, warm spices and as always the best ingredients we can find to comfort and nourish the soul.  

With our drinks, we partner with breweries St Austell and Signature Brew for our lagers and IPAs and serve organic wine and prosecco which help international wildlife charity, Born Free. We design our own drinks such as Vegan Hemp White Russian and homemade Hackney Spiced Rum and serve Kompassion Kombucha brewed in Grow Studios.
