Afro Latin band, Tumbaito, led by Williams Cumberbatch, a drummer that has worked with the likes of Bjork and Goldie return to Grow for an extended set of live Afro Latin grooves.

Williams celebrates 30 years in the UK and his birthday on this night, so expect something special!

Special guest DJ Des Morgan (Yam Who?) takes us through till 2am.

This event is made possible by Korev – St Austell Brewery’s flagship lager. There will be giveaways on the day courtesy of them!

Born on Cornish shores, open horizons inspired us and nature’s elements shaped us. Pale gold like the morning sun, fresh and crisp like a coastal breeze, full-on refreshment like waves crashing against our shores: this is the coast in a glass. Drink it all in!

Starting out his musical career as one half of UK duo Yam Who? Des has worked on a wide range of projects in the studio and on stage for artists including John Legend, Incognito, Hercules and Love Affair, Chaz Jankel, Faze Action and Amp Fiddler. Recent collaborations include projects with Vibration Black Finger and Leo Zero. A life-long search for obscure vinyl gems across the globe has also seen Des play at many clubs and festivals internationally. Expect a diverse and soulful journey of influential sounds, rhythms and tempos.

Tumbaito are led by Venezuelan percussionist, Williams Cumberbatch, an artist that has worked with The Cure, Bjork and Goldie, based in UK since 1992. After representing Venezuela in the commemoration of their 500 year anniversary organised by the BBC with 2 bands representing Latin America; Los Muñequitos de Matanzas (Cuba) & Grupo Entreverao (Venezuela) where William was percussion leader. Since his arrival in the UK he has collaborated and been invited to play with top musicians and bands from all different branches of the music industry among them:

Recently recording with Grammy award winner member of Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers saxophonist Jean Toussaint last 2 albums and performed with Orphy Robinson’s AACM homage at the London Jazz festival 2015 featuring maestro Louis Moholo from South Africa on drums alone a “troupe of local UK jazz heroes.” The Guardian.

Our Spice Trail inspired menu is predominantly plant based, with some ethically sourced meat options, as part of our conscious drive towards sustainability. Our passion is for the cooking of the Middle East and southern Mediterranean so expect punchy flavours, warm spices and as always the best ingredients we can find to comfort and nourish the soul.

With our drinks, we partner with breweries St Austell and Signature Brew for our lagers and IPAs and serve organic wine and prosecco which help international wildlife charity, Born Free. We design our own drinks such as Vegan Hemp White Russian and homemade Hackney Spiced Rum.
