Grow Receives Lifeline Grant From Government’s £1.57bn Culture Recovery Fund
We're thrilled to announce that we're one of the 1,385 cultural and creative organisations across the country receiving urgently needed support from the Government's Culture Recovery Fund (CRF) grant programme.
Administered by Arts Council England, this support means so much - we can stay open, give you access to music, art and culture when you need it most, support artists, musicians and technical engineers by hosting over 60 events over the next 6 months and keep a fantastic and hard working team together #HereForCulture
Since 2014, we’ve collaborated with artists, musicians and collectives to plan; produce and share profits together. It’s an empowering process. We’re grassroots with international impact. Local and emerging artists with zero budget are programmed alongside international artists. Young musicians have jammed with Abass Dodoo (Ginger Baker band), Japanese contemporary dancers and indigenous didgeridoo masters from Austrailia, to name just a few. Our artist partners credit the collaborations, regularity of exposure and payments as helping them hone their craft.
We’ve hosted 200+ free events each year with over 30,000 people through our doors. From masterclasses with a Afro-Latin Master Percussionist; Brazilian dancehall stars, Marimba workshops, Motherland club nights, reggae jams and open decks, live cyphers, to the Hackney Wick locals; riotus punk with Hot Gog Grrrlll and the Sesame Buns, Fear of Fluffing with Butoh dancer Mai Nguyen Tri to live painting by street artist Run, we span genres and celebrate diverse culture from around the globe to down the road.
With this support, we plan to continue deliver a cultural programme which represents value for money; responsive, accessible, innovative, creative, supportive to our partners and reaches new and existing audiences.
Chair, Arts Council England, Sir Nicholas Serota, said:
“Theatres, museums, galleries, dance companies and music venues bring joy to people and life to our cities, towns and villages. This life-changing funding will save thousands of cultural spaces loved by local communities and international audiences. Further funding is still to be announced and we are working hard to support our sector during these challenging times.”
We want to also thank the Music Venue Trust for all their support who are an invaluable resource to grassroots venues across the UK.
Arts Council England is the national development agency for creativity and culture. We have set out our strategic vision in Let’s Create that by 2030 we want England to be a country in which the creativity of each of us is valued and given the chance to flourish and where everyone of us has access to a remarkable range of high quality cultural experiences. We invest public money from Government and The National Lottery to help support the sector and to deliver this vision. www.artscouncil.org.uk
Following the Covid-19 crisis, the Arts Council developed a £160 million Emergency Response Package, with nearly 90% coming from the National Lottery, for organisations and individuals needing support. We are also one of several bodies administering the Government’s Culture Recovery Fund and unprecedented support package of £1.57 billion for the culture and heritage sector.
