Kinetic Ubiquitous Bandwidths (KUB) take over the Eco-Pod
This month, Kinetic Ubiquitous Bandwidths (KUB), consisting of Larry Phillips and Janis Sokolovskis, will be entering as artists in residence at Grow Eco-Lab (designed by local sustainable architects, Studio Bark) which is located outside Grow.
The two have been focusing on multidisciplinary practices exploring new musical performance environments incorporating the use of active listening and embodied music cognition. Over the past few months, they have been working on Social Collaborative Heuristic Mobile Audio Kontrollers (SCHMAKs). SCHMAK is an interactive device that allows participants to interact with sound using simple and intuitive gestures. The interaction is complementary to all levels of musical expertise and has a versatile range of applications.
KUB are inviting all active members of the artistic community to participate in the exploration of potential creative applications and music making at the Eco Pod. Collaboration sessions will be announced on this Facebook Group. The sessions will be used to find ways of incorporating SCHMAKs into other disciplines. The outcome of these conversations will culminate in the showcase of some of the innovations produced during their artist residency. It will be an all-inclusive social event, hosted by Grow..
