On Thursday 2 Feb 2023, we’re launching our new mezzanine gallery with artist Alisdair McKay’s: Screen Printed Exhibition of Gilded Maps (5-7pm). The artwork consists of antique maps, digitally collaged with renaissance paintings and etchings to create new interpretations of classical pieces. These are then hand Screen Printed onto glass, one colour at a time, incorporating gold leaf to produce upwards of 16 layers of colour and detail. Artwork is available to buy, please contact Alasdair on alasdair@mansonspress.com

This exhibition launch is combined with our weekly jazz jam which starts at 7.30pm so you can enjoy enjoy Alasdair’s wonderful exquisite homemade gilded prints and then enjoy jam from some of London’s most upcoming musicians.

About Alasdair MacKay

As an artist, Alasdair aims to create beautiful objects that are made of the finest materials and technically challenging to create. By bringing together Screen Printing, gilding and digital collage, he enjoys making work that is reassuringly familiar and yet wholly unique.

Alasdair has been a Screen Printer for 11 years and independently running Manson’s Press, which is based at Grow Studios, for 6 years. He began the company to produce high quality fine art Screen Prints as commissions for artists, but have recently started using unique printing and gilding techniques to produce my own work.

Alasdair make pieces that he would love to have hanging on my walls at home. By using halftone details, real gold and multiple printmaking techniques on each piece, something new is found every time you look at the artwork.
