Rohan Rakhit – The Emerging DJ Championing Marginalised Music

DeepDig is Grow’s in-house night designed to bring some of our favourite emerging DJs to the forefront, allowing both DJs and audiences to dig deep into their music and play the extended sets they rarely get to showcase at bigger venues and festivals. Expect Lengthy, No Holds Barred DJ Sets, Intimate and Unique Settings, World-Class DJs and as always, Affordable Tickets.

Meet Rohan Rakhit, one of London’s favourite emerging DJs, known for his vibrant, community-centric global sounds. As a DJ, broadcaster, and actor, Rohan is a key player in the Asian Underground collective Daytimers. His residencies at Worldwide FM, Sister Midnight, and Social Records Society have built him a devoted fanbase and a name for supporting grassroots music and diverse sounds. Passionate about uplifting emerging artists and marginalised voices, Rohan brings inclusivity and community to the forefront of his music. He’s a fixture at top London venues like the Jazz Café and Corsica Studios and has rocked festival stages at We Out Here and Glastonbury.

As the sun shone over the canal on (one of the few) sunny days this summer, we sat with Rohan under the shade of our pontoon and explored the dynamic and passionate world of Rohan’s music and projects amidst the laid-back ambience of Grow's green outdoor setting. Rohan shared his excitement about introducing new genres like Broken Beat to his audience and the joy of seeing their appreciation grow. He emphasised the importance of engaging and interacting with the crowd, creating a barrier-free, intimate atmosphere during his sets. Rohan also discusses his diverse and genre-less music selection and shares details of his music selection for his upcoming set at Grow’s DeepDig. Drawing on his work on social impact in music he discusses the value of collaboration and amplifying marginalised voices. These insights provide a glimpse into Rohan's passion for music and his dedication to delivering unique and memorable experiences and creating positive change in the music economy.

Don’t Miss Rohan Rakhit on Friday 12th of July, where he’ll be joined by Kisa, another of London’s favourite emerging DJs to bring you a night of community-centric global sounds, centring marginalised music and voices, all night long.

Kisa is a key member of Sample Chief and resident DJ in London's Utopia scene, she curates soul-healing tunes inspired by New York Loft culture and Manchester’s Reno club. Starting during the pandemic, she quickly rose to fame, playing at We Out Here festival and landing on Mixmag’s 'best mixes of the year' list in 2023. Kisa has shared stages with Shy One, Irfan Rainy, and Jamz Supernova. She blends highlife, salsa, funky grooves, and gospel melodies, taking listeners on a captivating musical journey.
